Upon the subsidiary's incorporation, the SRT will transfer rights for unused land to the subsidiary which will also oversee the railway agency's land rental contract renewals, he said. Restrictions for the 300-rai land near the Chao Phraya River include a road that is too narrow to provide easy access to the land and there are some communities located near the land. The last land plot covers 270 rai of land, a part of which is now the residences of the SRT's staff. The SRT then plans to spend 4 billion baht to develop some areas of the land into a condominium for employees whose families will get rooms no more 40 sq m each. Earlier, staff requested 60-sq m rooms, but the proposal was rejected as it required a huge investment of 7.9 billion baht.
